Message	3000 miles oil changes are now shifted to 5000 mile oil changes with new car OEM recommended intervals. My new truck and my former new Mazda that I traded in had 5000 mile oil change intervals. The oil looks barely darker at 3000 miles. The dealership's own recommend oil change interval is 3000 miles. But they want to see you more often which is more $$$ for them. The current oil API for gasoline engine is "SM" which has improved wear, oxidation resistance from oil 3 years ago.
